Depending on your situation, we will craft a unique, personalized treatment plan that will fit perfectly with your dental and orthodontic needs as well as your schedule.

Understanding Invisalign

The Invisalign approach to straightening forgoes any metal wires or brackets, and instead uses a series of comfortable, smooth and clear plastic trays, called aligners. These aligners fit directly on the teeth similar to plastic retainers, and are custom-made to fit your mouth perfectly. They are easily removable, so you can say goodbye to the dietary restrictions that come with traditional braces. These aligners and can be popped in and out to eat, brush your teeth, and floss. For best and quickest results, aligners should be worn for at least 20 to 22 hours a day. Invisalign is a great option for our teenage and adult patients, since visibility (or lack thereof) commonly becomes more of a concern as you get older.

How Does Invisalign Work?

You will work through a series of aligners over the course of your treatment, and each of these aligners will slightly adjust tooth position. When Invisalign aligners are placed on teeth, they apply minute forces that over time, cause the teeth to shift toward new positions. During each stage of the process, only certain teeth are allowed to move. Every few weeks, depending on your specific case, you will come in for an appointment to make sure your treatment is progressing smoothly.

Invisalign teen compliance indicator

Our Invisalign treatment has been advancing over the past years, and we have two new features that make this type of orthodontic treatment ideal for teenagers and adolescents. One of these is “eruption tabs,” which are designed to leave space open for molars that have yet to fully grow in. The other is built in “compliance indicators,” which tell doctors, parents, and teens themselves whether or not the aligners are being worn diligently enough to produce ideal results. These features make Invisalign Teen perfect for socially conscious teenagers.

How To Care For Your Teeth When Using Invisalign

How to Clean Clear Aligners

Invisalign trays should be removed when you brush your teeth, which should be after every meal or snack so that food and plaque do not build up or get trapped in your aligners. As always, plaque build up around your gums or in your aligners can lead to tooth decay and gum disease. Your aligners should be cleaned regularly as well, and you can properly do this by brushing them as you would your teeth, and then rinsing them in lukewarm water.

Similar to wearing braces, it will be expected of you to wear your retainers post-treatment regularly to ensure that your teeth will not shift back to their old positions. If you don’t wear your retainers as prescribed, you risk losing the beautiful results your Invisalign will have given you!
